Improve Your Balance for Health , Safety and Continued Fun
Knowing about my interest in all topics related to healthy aging, my sister shared the following article about balance from the Wall Street Journal with me.
The article provides a great description of how our motor and sensory systems work together to keep us upright when we encounter challenging surfaces and environmental obstacles. It includes excellent advice about exercises you can do at home to maximize and preserve your ability to balance and prevent falls.
Many of the people I know are planning travel, outdoor activities and family gatherings which require sure footing. Vacations to ancient archeological sites, American historic cities and beaches, hiking and biking and caring for pets and grandchildren all require core strength, flexibility, endurance and good balance.
